Activities Performed:

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

  • Determined the current methods of handling products, materials, supplies, parts, equipment, and waste, as well as the procedures for receiving, storing and  distributing products. 
  • Identified and corrected inefficiencies.Proposed methods for automating, expediting and improving the accuracy of inventory tracking.

RESOURCE TRACKING

  • Developed methods or tools to measure and track employee  productivity.
  • Evaluated the systems used to determine truck costs and load estimating, and made recommendations for upgrading.
  • Reviewed operations planning/scheduling/tracking and control procedures & forms, along with driver reports.  Modified and/or implemented, as necessary.

MAINTENANCE

  • Implemented procedures for tracking truck & equipment maintenance.

QUALITY

  • Assisted the client in performing a self assessment of his quality management system, and estimating the effort that was required to implement a comprehensive quality assurance system.

ORGANIZATION

  • Published organizational & functional charts clearly showing each person's functions and reporting chain.
  • Developed a procedure to create Position Guides (job descriptions) for key personnel of the Company.
  • Taught managers how to create them for other positions.
  • Determined the optimal authorities, duties and responsibilities of the key personnel.
  • Define standards and measures of performance.
  • Developed an Employee Evaluation and Assessment System that included performance measurements from job descriptions and observable actions from day to day activities.
  • Implemented a progressive disciplinary policy.
  • Reviewed current employment policy manual and developed a listing of additional policies that needed to be incorporated into the document.
  • Evaluated the existing administrative documents, forms and procedures (such as submission of timecards); recommended changes, as necessary.
  • Developed a procedure that allowed managers to delegate authority and responsibility to others in the organization.
  • Developed a weekly operations report, which included the key operating indicators.
  • Implemented an  employee suggestion program.
  • Introduced managers to methods for developing a "self-funding" employee recognition program.
